well, i've nothing to show for nearly two weeks of pure leisure, save a book completed at a frustratingly slow pace (intentionally, for i had hoped i might learn how to "relax" via this exercise in self-control) and consistent 10-hour nights of sleep.

wake up at 8, see no point in getting out of bed, lazing immobile with blinds shut til 11:30, trip down the stairs for lunch, read a few newspapers picked up from downtown, remain in pajamas until 2:00, make some phone calls, shower. leave house to visit friends if i happen to be so lucky sometime in the mid-afternoon, return home to make rediculously elaborate meal for family, head out again at about 8, aimlessly drive around, come home between 11 and 12. sit on couch and channel surf for an hour, then up to bed, fall asleep at about 2.

this routine has plagued me every day since ive been home (nobody's fault but my own, though). i absolutely detest its monotony and apathy. i try to console myself with the pithy theory that i'll be appreciating this time off from the world when i fly back to yale in a few weeks for what is basically going to be a 24-hour-a-day-job.

robbie's birthday picnic was perhaps the high point of last week. but really, im bored as hell, most days.

my birthday, however, is coming up next week - third decade - woo. june 4.  ¶ 18:10
